Funding Opportunities

For DOE, EERE and other Federal Agency funding opportunities:

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA): This online database can be used to find federal programs available to state and local governments, federally-recognized Indian tribal governments, territories and possessions of the United States, domestic public, quasi-public, and private profit and nonprofit organizations and institutions, specialized groups, and individuals.

Applications for financial assistance cannot be processed through this site. However, the assigned CFDA Number can be used to search for Funding Opportunity Announcements

FedBizOpps (FBO): This site contains federal contract opportunities exceeding $25K in value. The FBO is the electronic replacement for the Commerce Business Daily (CBD).

Grants.gov: This website is the logical entry point to locate grant information for all 26 Federal granting agencies. Applicants can visit this single comprehensive site to locate and apply for Funding Opportunity Announcements instead of searching multiple federal agency websites.

State and local government agencies, academic institutions, research organizations and all other Federal grant seekers will find that Grants.gov is a dedicated tool created specifically to help them. The Search for Federal-Wide Grant Opportunities feature searches financial assistance opportunities throughout the Federal government.

EERE Web Site: EERE works with businesses, industries, universities, other organizations and individuals to promote the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. All EERE Funding Opportunity Announcements are posted on the Grants.gov web site, or they can be viewed on the Funding Opportunity Announcements page of the Office of EERE Funding Opportunities Web Site.

NOTE: Applicants must follow the instructions in each Funding Opportunity Announcement.

DOE National Laboratories: This is an excellent resource for information about DOE's national laboratories and technology centers. Visit the "Business Opportunity" section for each laboratory to locate funding, joint-research, and licensing opportunities.

For non-Federal funding opportunities:

Business Newspapers: Notices of state and local government funding opportunities are often posted in business journals and newspapers.

The Foundation Center (FC): The Foundation Center website provides excellent resources for researching foundation grant opportunities. In addition, the FC sends out, via email, a free weekly update on foundation requests for proposals.

Regional Energy Organizations: There are several regional energy organizations that post regional opportunities to their websites. The following is a list of the more commonly known regional centers and their websites for further references:

State Energy Office websites Many state energy offices post grant and contract funding announcements on their websites. In addition, some energy offices offer email notification services for upcoming funding opportunity announcements.
